You find a very compact history review in the foreword section of the Handbook. I warmly recommend having a look at and skim read the first compact publications from 1906, 1912 and 1927. You really gain an insightful deeper understanding of the connections and developments in their historical context that shaped the beginnings of radio technology. At least have a look at the first definition of an Amateur and the first amateur frequency allocations approved at the International Radiotelegraph Convention in 1927.

🎓 – Learning Ressources

Amateur Radio is around for over a century now. A lot of good people have put in their effort to guide newbies into the hobby, called elmering, and some of those had put quite an aknowledgable amount of their lifetime into compressing their knowledge into mentionable publications, with paedagocial value.
Listed publicaitons are my personal recommendation.
Highly recommended ones are highlighted due to a learner centred approach, written with inviting open arms, taking the student by the hand and discovering the topic together.
